  • Infection Control & Policy Awareness Week – An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

Metro Heart Institute with Multispecialty, Faridabad celebrated the Infection Control & Policy Awareness Week, from February, 20th to 25th, 2017. The theme for the same was “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. The aim of such initiatives is to raise awareness about hospital acquired infections (HAI), educate the medical and paramedical staff about various practices like HAI, BLS, ERCC, Hand-Hygiene, surveillance, HR policies, NABH policies, etc. 

The week long celebrations included several events like quiz, mock drills, BLS training, poster making, collage making, slogan writing, pick and speech, canvas painting etc based on the theme. All medical and paramedical staff participated in the event, and make it a success. Various participants from other hospitals came to learn our practices and also participated in various activities which was a great gesture. 

Dr. Neeraj Jain, Sr. Interventional Cardiologist & Managing Director of Metro Hospital, Faridabad told us that “we have a very active infection control team, which manages the hospital infection control. We started organising such a week since in the 2015 as such concentrated efforts create a lot of awareness not only amongst health care workers, but also amongst the patients and their relatives." 

Infection Control and policy awareness week is annually celebrated to encourage all healthcare professionals to help diminish the incidence of hospital-acquired infections. With the help of such activities, Metro Hospital, Faridabad having infection rates at par international guidelines/organizations.  

Dr. Vijay K Aggarwal, Head Critical Care and Infection Control Department also told us about various practices and guidelines to reduce infections in hospital, as well as in community.
